Leading a team to provide customers with a great dining out experience, whether they are eating or drinking. Communication between customers and other coworkers, pouring drinks, taking food, paper work, over coming challenges on a daily basis.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoyed my program very much but with the covid pandemic most meetings, training days etc moved online. And it was hard to be motivate interacting through a screen. Plus hospitality is all about the people, so I wasn’t able to make connections and meet new people.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I’ve learnt how to manage a team, communication, filling in delivery orders, cashing up at the end of a shift.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

It is very well organised, we are given a timetable so you know about upcoming events so it works around work. And there is a virtual websites for information and training
How much support do you receive from your employer?

Marston’s have been so supportive of my apprenticeship. And they always check in to see if they can help and support you with anything.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

There will be one main topic with several modules which link into that specific topic. You can take your time not to rush and support is always there by talking with your trainer about the topic you are covering
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I understand a lot more of the behind the scenes stuff that most people don’t see when coming to a restaurant or pub. So it’s given me better knowledge to perform my job as a supervisor better
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are loads of courses you can go on and learn about different thing. For example I took a course about kitchen cooking methods and financial audits. And you meet so many new people too.
