Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My current role is withing the Data Loss Prevention team which broadly speaking is focussed on ensuring that the organisation has safe and secure channels to send sensitive information in a secure manner, whilst also exploringpotentially malicious data extraction events. This work largely takes the form of responding to alerts and ensuring these are investigated to determine the circumstances
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
Overall i do enjoy the cyber security degree apprenticeship as it provides good exposure to the technical aspects of such as coding and systems commands which i previously had no expereince with. If transitioning to a career in cyber security is something you want to do then this a an avenue well worth considering

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
This was a completly new role for me and brought with it a significant learning curve to be able to get to the point where i can work through the alerts independantly. The team has been great with this though and has helped me get up to speed on using the systems and processes that are specific to this business area

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
For the most part it is organised well, Lloyds are really flexible with shfiting demands and exams so i can't really fault them. The university however in my experience hasn't been great at laying out a proper semester schedule and assessment dates have been set at short notice on a couple of occasions
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Lloyds have been doing these apprenticeships programmes for some time now and have a tgood frameowkr in place for supporting colleague through this. Managment have been really flexible and constantly check in to ensure i have what i need to suceed in my studies and support my wider learning in the company
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
The support from the uni is sufficient, for the degree apprenticeship we have one day a week at uni which covers all our active modules for the semester, leaving it up to us to work through the labs/tutorials in our own time for the remainder of the week. More structure regarding assessment dates would be beneficial though
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
These opportunites are very much what you make of them, neither the working role or the university studies in isolation will provide you with what you need to become proficient in a cyber security role. But together they will help you to develop a broad skill set which can then be used to focus in on whatever specific area of cyber security interests you
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Networking has been a big part of my experience at Lloyds, as a huge organisation it is really beenfical to get to know people inother teams/areas who may be able to assist you in your role or development opportunites. Even though i'm mostly working from home at the moment there is ample opportunity to get to know colleagues and meet other teams

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Lloyds Banking Group to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Though its a large organisation there is a focus on you as an individual and ensuring you have the support you need to enjoy what you do and progress your own development. Everyone is really helpful and supportive, along with a wealth of experience helping individuals though various different apprenticeship programmes
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Lloyds Banking Group?
Competition is high for these opportunites so make sure you do what you can to prepare for the interview process and make sure you have some knowledge of the field, notable events going in in recent times. This is quite a demanding programme in terms of the effort you have to put into it, but also rewarding in what you get back
