Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role involves supporting and developing the career paths of our hair educators within the business. This involves offering them mentoring programmes, learning opportunities and support. We also provide new starters an education-based induction when they join the company.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really enjoy the program. For me, this was the best route as I felt/ feel that I could thrive in the workplace rather than going to full-time university. I am gaining both experience and academic knowledge and being inspired by industry experts everyday,
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt time management, resilience, communication and feel I have really matured through this program. Most importantly, I am pushed out of my comfort zone every day.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The program is well structured and organised. I felt the time between confirming the role and on-boarding could've been more organised in regard to communication, however the structure and communication I receive since joining the company has outshined this. I had an amazing induction where I felt excited to join the company and was welcomed with open arms from my team. My manager is very supportive with my long commute and University work.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive amazing support from my employer. My manager takes time to ask about my University work and supports when she can. I also receive both professional and personal support from not only my manager, but my wider team and colleagues around me. Mental health is also a priority at L'Oreal.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I receive support from my training provider, but because we have been transitioning from an old provider, the communication hasn't always been at its best. However, I do feel since this transition the communication has been amazing and the support is now there.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I learn things at University from an academic level. Theories, researching competitors and learning about the industry as a whole always contributes to my success on the apprenticeship scheme.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are social activities for interns/ apprentices such as Netball club, however my commute is very long so I haven't joined these yet.

Why?
I feel L'Oréal is a great place to kick-start your career. I am pushed outside of my comfort zone everyday, challenged and supported with everything I do. I love this company and I am very proud to work for them and contribute to its success. I am currently 9 months into my apprenticeship and I can see my career within this company.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to L'Oreal?
Think outside the box. This is how I got my job. Degree apprenticeships are very competitive so you need to make yourself stand out.
