Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
My role as an apprentice accounts payable clerk is to monitor/manage accounts on a day-to-day basis. This involves: invoicing, dealing with queries either via phone or email and statement reconciliations. If these are not done to high standard or completed in a timely manner accounts will start to fall overdue and complex.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I thoroughly enjoy my time at work as I feel the company culture holds a big part in reaching the end goal. I am always supported by all team members and I am given sufficient advice and help when needed. Overall, I cant fault anything that has been provided so far.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learnt many new skills on a personal and professional level, this includes; team work, communication (internally and externally), problem solving and meeting targets and deadlines. As well as this I am currently studying to achieve my level 3 AAT qualification which will hopefully kickstart my career in accounts and finance.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
Within the company my experience has been enjoyable as I am surrounded by a team that provide me with sufficient training and knowledge in order to improve within my role. I have a designated mentor that I liaise with on a day-to-day basis which provides me with all the support I need.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
Within the company I am surrounded by a lot of supportive people. I hold weekly meetings with my line manager where we review weekly targets, output and areas in which I can improve. Also, I catch up with my workplace mentor on a daily basis to ensure all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
2/5
I have had a difficult time studying with my training provider as I feel online learning does not suit my desired style of education. However, I have received support from my early careers advisor where we are looking at ways in which we can combat this issue. Overall, I feel I have not learned a great deal to contribute towards my qualification.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
I feel like i have learnt best from actually performing my job role on a day to day basis. However, some aspects of college I have managed to make links between my theory and my job role. After working in the finance team for several months i feel i know more about how my role is beneficial to the wider company.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Every few months our wider finance team holds a get together where we can all relax on a personal level, as i feel this aids team bonding. Once a month there is an all hands call where everyone from within the company joins - this involves any updates about the company.
