Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

On the first year of the course, we are able to gain and understanding for different manufacturing processes used in the business, such as milling, turning and welding. We are instructed on how to use the equipment before completing training and assessment tasks followed by paperwork marked by instructors.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy the programme although I am looking forward to going into the business on placement. The university course is interesting and enjoyable.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have been able to develop my practical skills by using the machinery and equipment. This has enabled be to learn more about processes used and the manufacturing capability of the machines and therefore the components produced. It also has allowed me to develop my organisation skills by completing the paperwork required for work and uni work.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The individual sections we attend in the LDC are well organised by sometimes the communication between work and university is slightly lacking. The structure is good and beneficial.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

The support is there from the employer if needed. ADLs are easy to contact and resolve issues quickly and efficiently.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

When working towards my degree we are provided with good quality lectures and tutorials although some are online which isnt ideal. Again, the support is there if required and issues tackled when they arise.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I feel my degree currently is helping with my thought process in terms of thinking more logically, this is beneficial in the workplace. I feel like the degree will become more useful when we go on placement and will be able to apply some of the knowledge learnt.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There is an apprentice and graduate society which hosted an event earlier this year, I believe they intend to plan more throughout the year. I don't get involved in any sports currently, but would welcome the opportunity to do so. It would be good if we were informed of these more.

Would you recommend Rolls-Royce to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I believe it provides a good opportunity and provides a good start to a career. The instructors and staff are all professional and informative whilst being helpful and approachable. The facilities are decent and it is a nice place to work. I think it provides the necessary knowledge and skills to succeed.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Rolls-Royce?
The application process is well thought out. I would suggest gaining relevant work experience and experience for interviews.
