Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Auditing - On a day to day basis, complete excel spreadsheets which are filled with questions and templates. These questions/templates are to be completed through the help of the client which means we communicate with the client regularly. Also coach junior members to do the same thing.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
Thoroughly enjoy it - see it as one of the best ways into the world of accounting/audit. The amount of experience we have at our age is impressive and we still get all our holidays every year! Beats an apprenticeship and a traditional degree in my eyes.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Accounting skills and standards knowledge has increased significantly. Teamwork and workload management has also gotten better. Excel skills have also improved along with my ability to analyse date and interpret financial statements.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
Could be better organised in terms of when our placement is. We have our first 2 placements when the workload is quite low and then our 3rd most difficult placement is thrown in busy season where we struggle to cope.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
Good amount of support from Career coach however need to be lucky to have a good CC. Sometimes other Managers expect too much from us despite us only working a few months a year.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
2/5
The teaching at the university is sufficient to pass our exams in most cases. Some areas of teaching are really bad such as Tax throughout the years.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
Theory isn't very useful when it comes to practise however the knowledge of accounting is very important
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Plenty of social activities and challenges on a daily basis!

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to PwC?
Make sure you show you are keen to learn and that you have an interest in the business/in clients. Stay well informed on global matters and keep networking with the correct people. PwC isn't easy to get into so don't be disheartened and keep at it!
