Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Responsible for the learning and development of all employees within our Premium Bars division. Developing chefs, front of house and management teams. Promoting careers within the business and future learning opportunities and qualifications.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
Enjoyable but a big commitment. Great if you've got a lot to learn within L&D.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Yes! My people management skills have improved since starting the course. I've also found I'm a better listener, and take time to understand the issue and a potential outcome rather than jumping to the first solution.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
I was one of the first people to sit this qualification, therefore it could've been better organised and managed however as a first co-hort this is to be somewhat expected.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
Plenty!
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
Enough where needed!
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
Really well. I've learned a range of new skills, and expanded on knowledge I already had which has made me a more well rounded employee.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Networking events, social occasions and a lot more.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Marstons to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Despite being a huge company, there are lots of opportunities - you just need to know where to look for them and when to know you might be ready for a new challenge!
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Marstons?
Just do it. I started off working in one of our bars as a waitress and I'm now the training manager for a selection of incredible venues and brilliant teams. If you know what you want in your career, there's probably an opportunity to be successful in Marstons.
