many HSBC employees and graduates hosted sessions and activities which covered the values they represent and a range of sectors in relation to HSBC, they also held mock interviews to help us develop our skills and prepare us for future interviews which involved answering a competency question and a strength question.
To what extent did you enjoy your work experience?

it was very enjoyable, the panelist’s and interviewers were very engaging and the activities we had done were quite good and informative, if i had to recommend it i would as it was a beneficial experience, i learnt many new things and also made more connections and friends from my peers
How well organised was your work experience?

it was very well organised and comprehensive as they had a fully detailed two week schedule that allowed me to know what to expect every day and what we were going to do, there were very minimum difficulties and everything was comprehensive and simple to understand overall this being great
How much did your work experience help you in deciding on your future career path?

it helped a lot as i was u decided before in what i wanted to perceive in the future but i now know that leading others and being part of a team and taking on responsibility is something i would like to do as a job in the future as possibly a project manager

no i was not paid or reimbursed as it was a virtual work experience but the experience i gained was much more valuable than being paid, as it is a work experience and i was not eighteen when i had partaken in the experience i did not receive a salary

What training and skills development did you learn from your work experience?

It was an informative work experience that allowed me to develop my communication skills through the interviews and Q&A's with panellists. It also helped develop my team-work skills through the projects we were assigned to do in breakout rooms. I also was able to improve my competency and confidence as I always asked and answered questions

How much did you learn about the company culture and what it would be like to work there?

I learnt about each panelist’s individual job role and how they all interacted with each other it gave great insight to the company culture as they also let us know what they do under each branch of hsbc and what it entails, they also were very real with us and did not try to glorify their work load
Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees?

yes we had a panelist session every few days where we could talk and ask questions and also ask them for their linked in to connect with them and be able to talk to them in the future and find more opportunities should i need to when i am older

Would you recommend HSBC to a friend?
Yes
Why?
it is a great experience that everyone should go on and learn as it provided many lessons such as how to work in certain branches of finance that not everything is to do with maths and numbers and there is more to banking than many people think there it to it
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to HSBC?
to be yourself and apply as yourself and to not doubt your abilities and skills and trust you will be able to do it, having the understanding that you are competent helps as it is not nice to always compare yourself to others and you should not because hsbc is very welcoming
