Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My work mostly consists of assisting my line manager and other colleagues with their work. this work includes.
- Estate Management: managing estates and property portfolios, this is often instructing and managing repairs and jobs, renewing tenancy agreements and other such documents.
- Professional work: This mostly comprises valuations of rural and residential property and sometimes applying for loans for various clients. Once I mature in my role this will also include consultancy work, but I have mainly been observing that so far.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
The programme i have enrooled in has been very enjoyable over the past year and a half. There has been a wide variety of jobs which often include interesting and new concepts to wrap one's head around and mean that work rarely gets boring. The variety in work also means you meet a variety of people, who are usually very nice and offer their own perspective and expertise which further enhances the experience of being at work.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have done both:
New Skills: I have learnt about how the law interacts with the world of property and where it is crucial to implement it, for example in legal agreements or when dealing with disputes. I have learnt many skills within the discipline of valuing both through my experience in work and through studying it at uni.
Existing skills: my organisation has greatly improved, I am able to manage my workflow in a way that means I finish things and don't miss jobs.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
There are rigid systems in place both on Savills side and from the training provider. I regularly attend catch up sessions with an allocated individual who tracks and monitors my progress to make sure I am hitting all of the targets that i need to. They offer very helpful feedback and are always encouraging.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
There is staff dedicated to apprentices and making sure that they understand what is expected of them and that they meet their goals. This is always done in a supportive and friendly manner. There is a wide network of apprentices from all across the country who you can always talk to and get advice from. Lastly the people in you office are very respectful and allow me to help with any interesting jobs they may have on regardless of whether or not they are obligated to. This willingness supports my growth in a wide variety of areas.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I attend regular catch up meetings with a member of staff specifically allocated to me and my line manager, we discuss my academic process and how well what i am learning is being applied to my job. The staff are very friendly and encouraging, but will be straight and honest when something needs changing. The course itself is set out in a clear way and the forums give you a good way to interact with the module staff and other students.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
There are many jobs that I do in my day to day role that I have learnt to do which are covered in the course material. It is rewarding to not only learn the theory and best practice for the job, but you can apply it directly to your role. this process of applying knowledge is immense satisfying.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
The people who work in my office all think it is very important to interact outside work, we often schedule meals and nights out to bond in an atmosphere outside of the office. Savills also organise wider meet ups across regions which allow people from different offices to interact usually at a fun place like Alton Towers or a water sports park.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Savills to a friend?
Yes
Why?
They are experienced in catering for apprentices and it shows! Their systems of monitoring progress and allocating work offer mean you never feel lost or bored. Apprentices are all very well integrated into the fabric of their respective offices and are excepted and respected, working alongside their colleagues rather than below them.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Savills?
I found about Savills by doing work experience here. I recommend doing something similar to fidn out about the offices and the style of working. when making the application itself, be pro-active, Savills like self starters who have initiative, employers can often tell what kind of worker you will be, judging by how you go through the application process.
