Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role involves supporting teams and being aligned to multiple customers. I help run the OOR report as well as placing orders these are the main aspects of my work load. Sometimes I get asked to request for PODs and ETAs for the SOM. I also work with my team to manage the shared mailbox where we help others within computacenter retrieve ETAs and PODs who may not have an apprentice aligned to their account.
I also manage my work load my making a daily to do list and looking through teams calendar for any upcoming meetings I have.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I am enjoying the program as there is lots of new learning with the tasks that I complete as part of my qualification. I also enjoy how structured the tasks are with the work sheet and presentations. These tasks are also supported with reading material. I feel that it is the right level of structure. I am grateful for the extra support that I have been offered with the SEN sessions to help me with the task sheets as there is a lot of written work involved.
I find it helpful that there is a dedicated day to the apprentice work as there is a lot of work to get done and I feel my progress would be a lot lower if I needed to do it outside of the working week.

Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt how to communicate with different people in a professional manner as well as many other aspects of communication for example confidence and growing my connections. I have also learnt developed my skills while using Microsoft word, PowerPoint, Excel and teams.
I have learnt how to use the business specific systems for example SAP and OneTouch. Which I have never heard of before I joined Computacenter.
I feel that I have developed my coaching and presenting skills as I have had the opportunity to be a part of a mentoring program as well as having the opportunity to talk to school kids from years 11-13 about the roles that are available at Computacenter. I found all of these incredibly helpful and would love to get involved more in the future.

Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

I feel that the program at the beginning wasn't as organised as there wasn't that much work for us to do since we were still being introduced and how a lot of the training was through videos. I found it hard to concentrate and fully take away all points from the videos as it was repetitive.
I feel that as I am the in the second group of apprentices that there are still improvements that can be made only with the beginning aspects of joining and being introduced to the role.
Once the role got started that's when I found it better with the structure around our work and having more to do during the day rather than watching videos. I feel that with having a dedicated day during the week towards our qualification that is very helpful as I can get my work done and feel that I am making progress.

I feel that there is a lot of support from my employer as everyone is very supportive and encourages to ask questions and build our knowledge. I also feel there is a lot of positive response to the apprenticeship as there as some people in higher management who come down to talk to us. I feel that this just shows the value CC have for its employees.
However at the moment is a very strange in between time as our previous manager left and now we are waiting for a full time manager who will be with us instead of our current temporary manager. I feel that it is harder to book in time as they also have their own team as well as the rest of the apprentices to look after.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

with my qualification I feel that a lot of it is individual and we only meet our coach every so often. I am happy that I get extra support for my dyslexia as there is a lot of writing that I struggle with. Having these SEN sessions are really helpful for myself and the progress.
I do feel supported as I am able to read through the document with my coach and go through how the questions are worded and if I need some guidance as I struggle with processing the questions and what they want to answer with. I also feel that my coach helps me with what examples I can use and how to hit the most criteria out of the examples I suggest.
However I do a strong work ethic and once I get started on something I can carry on without much guidance. I also feel that my previous learning has helped me a lot towards this qualification.

I feel that some of the work sheets make us use experiences that we have had in the work place and thinking about it after and what it links to does help when trying to learn from those experiences as well as trying to write them down in a proper manner. I feel that from having to work to deadlines within our Babington work does help us prepare for deadlines that we may face while working on a project. As well as just growing my understanding about businesses in general and with the different tools used. For example learning about project management and coaching.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are a lot of things to get involved with as I am part of a mentoring program and where I can I do try to get involved with the ELSA days. Especially for apprentices having the community calls do help and make familiar faces at events where we can all get to gather for example with fresh minds events.
Recently there is a football team that has been organised for a 5 a side match once a week where lots of people can get involved.
I have got involved in the social committee where we are planning different events which can take place for the future. We have set up a walking club where once a week we go for a 30 min walk as well as a running club once a week.
I think saying yes is very important to putting yourself out there and making a name for yourself within the business.

Why?
I think it is a great company who values its employees so much and wants the best for all. I think that it has been great for me being part of this apprenticeship program. I feel that I have developed so much as a person with the few months that I have been at computacenter.
With being my first Job I think it has been so much more than I could have expected from work. I come in the office 5 days a week by choice and I love talking to lots of people in the office and getting to know others.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Computacenter?
The advice I would give is being honest do not try and put on a face and say what is says in the job description word for word. You need to be genuine. I feel that showing your want to learn and develop is important as well.
Research is a big thing making sure you research the company before the interview or even deciding to apply. As Computacenter is a large company however not that many people have heard of it. It will reflect will if you can take away somethings to include in your interview. Researching shows that you care and that you have thought about your application.
