Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I work in Computacenter's Build Management team, whose main roles are creating, deploying and supporting fully custom Windows OS builds for our customers, along with full device software support (drivers, hotkeys etc). We use Microsoft System Center Config Manager (SCCM) and Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT) to develop all builds, with SCCM being what we use the most.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I felt I learnt a lot on this programme but I also feel it was very intense and the software used by Firebrand is very confusing. However, working at Computacenter is hugely rewarding. I feel included and valued by my team and the company hold events at various times of the year for apprentices. I find the work challenging but rewarding, especially when I get things right.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt many new skills, especially in using System Center Config Manager; I went from not knowing what to do with it at all to being proficient! I have also developed several personal skills, such as confidence.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

I found the apprenticeship itself not very well organised. I wasn't finding out about things when I should have but the organisation of my team was excellent, with weekly 121s with my manager and mentors and I have support if I ever get stuck :)
How much support do you receive from your employer?

Computacenter is a hugely supportive employer. All levels of management are highly approachable and I know where to go if I have a problem and nothing is ever too much of an issue.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

My learning mentor was very good, always there if I needed a chat or an answer to my many questions.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

As my apprenticeship is in IT support, I don't think that helps me much in Build as we aren't involved in IT support a huge amount. I do feel that I know more about my industry though.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

CC has lots of extra-curricular activities to go to. For example, the apprenticeship area of CC host events at different parts of the year for apprentices to network etc, crazy golf, bars or sports days. Much of this takes place in London.

The application process was easy and the interview felt friendly; there is no need to have IT qualifications, just a passion for IT
