Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

i am involved in the manufacturing of products and have completed jobs all around the building completing various tasks involving different skills. I have also been given chances to get involved in projects and events with the company. My work day starts at 7am and finishes at around 3:30am
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

during my apprenticeship i have enjoyed most of the task i have been doing as they are practical and hands on. i habe also meeting new people and working along side them. i have found meeting new people a lot easier than i thought and this has made my apprenticeship experience a lot more enjoyable.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

The oportunities i have been given during my apprenticeship to develop my skills and expand my knowledge of multiple subjects including soldering of through hole and surface mount components and other forms of manufacturing and assembly. I have also been given training courses to complete some mandatory and some voluntary
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

i have found my apprenticeship quite confusing and unorganised especially my placements as i was quite frequently needing to follow up about my change inplacement due to the placement plan not being up to date. The college has been very unorganised including not having a teacher or classroom on multiple ocassions.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

my employer as supported me when completiong my NVQ helping me whenever i need it including templates and examples from previous years apprentices. They have also been available most of the time for me to speak to about any queries or issues i have and have answered them in most instances
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

my training provider were very unorganised throughout my apprenticeship and sometimes did not provide us the required information we need. at the start of our second year we had a new maths teacher every week who restarted our course each time which meant we fell behind and found it very dificult to understand whet we were meant to be doing.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Most of the subjects we are studying at college i feel are unrelated to the work we are completing at wor some of which i have never seen being completed by anyone at the workplace. some have been beneficial to tyhe work i have been doing at my work but these units were cut short.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

While at work we are given the chance to take part in, charity events, STEM events, information webinars, extra projects (internal and external to the company) although some of these have been difficult to execute due to covid 19 restrictions. The extra activities i have taken part in i have found enjoyable and beneficial.

Would you recommend Leonardo to a friend?

Why?
I have gained great experience and have enjoyed most of my time. i believe there have been more pros than cons and the benefits that are available even to apprentices have been very good and useful. i feel the only major setback has been the college however only being there once a week has meant this isnt as bad as it would be.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Leonardo?
Do not be nervous when joining the company as most people have been very welcoming and helpful. when completing college and NVQ work ask anyone you need for help and complete it as soon as you can as it is a lot easier to complete when you have planty of time.
