Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Managing Risks, Controls, Issues and Actions on behalf of the COO
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
For the most part it was fine. Challenging given it was new course to the training partner so little background knowledge available

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Developed my understanding of the legal framework relating to my role

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
Very little structure after the professional ICA qualification in the first year.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
Mixed. On the whole the bank is supportive but in reality getting time during work to complete is unlikely
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
Again mixed. I've had 2 different talent coaches however the expert coach was very helpful with my project
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
This is difficult to quantify given I was already in a risk role. It broadened my view point and provided additional sources of research.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Yes

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend HSBC to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I've been here a while and over time I've seen a shift in putting staff experience more forward in it's agenda and the response to covid reinforced that.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to HSBC?
Don't be afraid of sidewards steps. experience is more important when it comes to personal development over progression.
