Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
As a risk and control officer i completed daily audit checks for the telephony advisors in the customer contact centre. I recorded errors that resulted in regulatory breaches for external reporting. i was involved in annual audit procedure reviews and external audit projects. I managed and produced MI. I respond to queries from the Contact Centre and the wider business appropriately, managing numerous audit inboxes in a timely manner providing effective and customer focused service
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
During my time at M&S Bank i have completed 2 apprenticeships. I have enjoyed both programmes and believe it is a great way to develop knowledge and skills on the job. the first apprenticeship i completed exceeded my expectations which is why i decided to start the second and this has been the exact same.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learnt an incredible amount of skills both on the job and from the apprenticeship. I developed management skills which enabled me to secure a job promotion at the end of the programme. I developed organisation and planning skills as well as time management and prioritisation skills from completing my coursework and exams. i build and maintained strong relationships with colleagues and developed excellent communication skills.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
i find the programme is extremely well organised. The talent coaches are very supportive and progress meetings are really beneficial. Study material is sent to you and avaliable 24/7. Support is always avaliable if you have any questions or need help. During covid the meetings went remote and the talent coaches will always work around what best suits you and your role, it is very flexible.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I recieve a great amount of support from my employer. My team leader has monthly check up meetings to look at my progress and offer help in any areas i need more support. My talent coach at Kaplan has a great attitude towards supporting me and also has 6 week progress reviews. Everything is well documented and information is easy to find.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
i have recieved a great amount of support from my training provider. From the very start of the course i was delegated a talent coach who has been with me since the very start. i was given contact information such as a telephone number and email address and i have always been assured i am able to make contact whenever i may need to. they respond extremely quickly and if they cant give me the answer i require they will always do the best they can to point me in the right direction.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
my qualification helped me gain a top and role model classification at my year end review. From the knowledge and skills i developed during the apprenticeship i have secured a job promotion. i know a lot more not only about the job role, but the organisation as a whole. i feel as though i preform better in work having completed the course.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
there are many different extra curricular activities to get involved in at work. We have social events in the summer and at christmas. My favourite is a CSR day where we can volunteer our time to charity or an organisation for the day, we can do this up to 2 times per year. They have an onsight gym with many classes and a running and walking club. you can also get involved in many different charity events which run across the year.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend HSBC to a friend?
Yes
Why?
HSBC are a really great employer. you are really well looked after and supported not just in your role but also personally. you have access to great benefits such as bupa healthcare and mental health first aid. they always look for ways to help you develop your career and are very supportive.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to HSBC?
my advice would be to be yourself. set aside time to research the organisation before applying for the role to best help you during your interview and prepare questions you would like to ask the company to ensure the role suits you. The application process is very straightforward and there is always a contact number if you need further assistance.
