I am a senior Scientist in Early product Development team in AstraZeneca. I provide analytical project support, analyse early clinical phase drug products, we set specification for the quality of drug products, set the shelf-life and work together with formulators to provide the best tablet formulation for the next stages of pharmaceutical development. This work involves lab work and extensive knowledge of analytical chemistry as well as other discipline like solid state and materials chemistry.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I am doing apprenticeship in data science, so I have learned a lot of useful information on how to manipulate the data. I've learned to code in Python, and how to apply this programming skills to work-related data-sets. I have learned about data protection laws, and data privacy. This allowed me to better understand how I can protect my personal data.

I have a full support of my line manager and mentor from the apprenticeship program.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I receive full support from the apprenticeship provider, there are regular calls with my mentor. Also, there are email communications, and designated platform that facilitate the conversation with the mentors.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

It is early to say as I am still in the beginning of the training, but there are many avenues which I can take to improve my work outcomes with the skills learned during the apprenticeship: e.g. more efficient ways of handling and processing data.
