Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
The Data Analyst reports to the Digital Transformation and Data Lead. The main responsibility is to contribute to improved decision making by providing a fact based approach and strong analytics to ongoing initiatives and new business opportunities – turning data into valuable information!
I use solid quantitative problem-solving skills to a wide variety of analytical tasks.
Primarily I work on projects/larger analytical deep dives but also ad-hoc analysis to support business needs.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I thoroughly enjoy the programme! It's engaging, challenging, thought provoking, inclusive and interactive. The programme does a good job during these challenging times to make use of digital collaboration tools to keep the attendees engaged.
I also really enjoyed our first all day hackathon, working as a group on a single challenge with the guidance of the DECODED team was very beneficial.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have done both! The programme does a good job of catering for those with no experience in data analytical methods to those that use them daily. I entered the programme hoping to gain a foundational understanding of Data Analytics as well as develop my coding ability and so far I have done both.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The programme is well organised, all work is completed and stored within a web based management tool called Bud. Due dates are set and the tool will prompt you as courses approach.
The DECODED team are also very communicative, emails are sent regularly with any updates or call details for an upcoming workshop.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
Support from my employer is adequate, my BAU work takes priority when required but my employer is conscious of my new workload now that I'm working on the DECODED programme. My manager attends the monthly progress reviews with my DECODED mentor and my apprenticeship is always on the agenda of my monthly 1-1s with my manager.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
The DECODED trainers are very supportive both during our workshops and offline throughout the duration of the course. They're responsive, considerate and attentive when I have issues with my learning or if I'm struggling with my time management when attempting to meet the designated deadlines for the different modules.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
The DECODED course is extremely applicable to my role as a Data Analyst, it's providing me with the relevant knowledge, skills and behaviours of a Level 4 accredited analyst that I will almost certainly use throughout my career when handling and distributing data. Some of the techniques we've covered so far have already come in good use in my current work.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Yes, AstraZeneca offer a variety of extra-curricular activities. In my time working for the company I've been involved with a variety of work led activities, some designed to upskill staff, some to raise money for charitable organisations and some for general health and wellbeing. E.g. A stand-up comedy evening held on site to raise money for charity.
