Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
As a manufactoring apprentice, I move around differnt areas of the business to gain an understnding of each depatment by having a placement in each one for three to six months. During thid time, I act as an employee, so I can decide where i would like to work when i finish my appreniteship.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
2/5
I usually enjoy my daily role as an apprentice, as I am given a verity of work. I did not enjoy college so much, as I found it very difficult. Anoher aspect that I have not enjoyed is the times that there has been little to no work to do in my placements, as this has been de-motivating.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
Yes, during my appeticeship I have learned about machining, maths, and electric piciples while at college. Whie at work, I have learned about wiring, testing and assembling products as well gaining an uderstanding of the desigh and quality areas of the busines that I now work in day to day.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
2/5
Not very, although I was given a good plan of which areas of the business i would look at and when, we did the incorrect college course for a few months and when we did the right one there were not enough teachers. For this reason, my apprenticeship has been extended by a year.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
I recieve a good amount of support from my employer, as they are always happy if I wish to go elseware to do STEM/ events or need to take some time out of my daily role while at work in order to complete some college work that is due in soon.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
2/5
I receve a fair amount of support from my training provider, but they appear to be under staffed and can often take an extremly long time to get back to any questions that I have, even after being chased a few times. That said, the teaching was good and usefull.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
2/5
I do not feel like the qualifications that I gained at college have helped me to do any better at work, as the skills that I have learned at college are not skills that I use when I am at work. For example, we learned machning at college but have no machiney at work.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Yes, there are many sporting networks and other extra caricular activites to be involved with at work. These are great for networking and having a good time in a more relaxed environmnt. I am glad that my comapny offe these as they allow me to meet new people and make new friends.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Leonardo to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Yes I would, this is beacuse I belive that apprentuceships are a good option and at leonardo it is possible to have good career pogression and there are plenty of oppoutunites to see differnt areas of the bsuiness and to move around the buiness with different job roles. but the organistaion can be improved.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Leonardo?
I would adive anyone wanting to apply to make sure that thay have as much expenrence in other rob roles/ extra caricular tasks as possisible. For example, by having work experence or having done some volenteering or being part of a club that works together to show team work and willing to be poactive.
