Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I work as a senior care assistant in a home that caters for residential, nursing and dementia.
My role on a day to day basis involves running a shift, delegating staff to clients and ensuring that everyone is working following their agreed ways of working. I have to ensure the safety and well-being of the clients, including all personal care needs, physical and emotional needs and nutritional needs.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I have enjoyed my programme with lifetime training so far. My tutor has always made me feel comfortable when I have been nervous during practice discussions and has always offered constructive feedback.
I do feel though, that meetings could be done more regularly and that their should be a way of being able to have contact with others doing the same course at the same time, to offer more support.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Since doing my apprenticeship with lifetime training, I have been able to widen my knowledge in most areas of my work. Which has made me more confident. I have learnt how to more effectively self evaluate so that I am always improving and working to the best of my ability.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
I feel the programme is structured well and is very clear. I have found that I am able to complete work more quickly between meetings and so am able to complete work that hasn’t yet been set but is part of my learning plan. Because of this I could possibly have completed my course before the end date. So will have to still space meetings out to count for this. It would be nice to be able to finish the course once all work is set and completed.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
My employer offered me to start the programme as they felt it would be hugely beneficial for me.
They don’t have too much involvement in my course but are always very supportive and adaptive when it comes to me having observations and putting my name forward for in house training.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
We having meetings to discuss the work set once completed and have practice discussions which I find helpful.
I do feel that meetings could be more regular, even to just touch base and find out if any support is needed.
Their user interface is helpful and has a lot of resources for support but I feel that it lacks a more personal touch
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
My training has helped give me better understand the work I do. I understand my role more clearly and am able to offer clients a more person centred approach then before as I have gained a wider understanding of their needs and how to handle sometimes tricky situations.
Because of the programme I’m doing, I’m always learning and gaining more knowledge. It has been more than beneficial.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
My work provide daily activities for our clients.
Some of the activities we provide are pamper sessions, tea and natter, night at the movies, outings on the minibus. We often have regular visitors that come and entertain the clients, these include, magicians, therapy pets, reminiscing quiz’s and songs, musicians. Staff are always encouraged to get involved.
We also hold events where relatives can come in and join in the activities.
Outside of these activities my employer holds regular meetings so that staff, clients and their families can ask questions or air any concerns.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Lifetime Training Group Limited to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I would recommend lifetime training to a friend as it’s been really beneficial to me and I feel that if anyone has the opportunity to improve then it’s worth a shot.
Lifetime training has a very clear learning plan, and is easily worked around your contracted working hours.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Lifetime Training Group Limited?
To really take in what you are learning and put it in to practice.
To make the time to sit down and complete the work set and research anything you are unsure of so that you can get a better understanding, gain knowledge and improve on your skills. I’d advise anyone applying to reach out if they ever need support, it may not always feel like the support is there, but it is.
