Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I am currently on a rotational placement plan around the different departments within the company, allowing me to see what all the different types of engineering tasks are performed in what area of the business.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really enjoy the program, I think it is a great way to have an insight to all the different disciplines of engineering so when I choose my final placement, it is an education descision backed with knowledge and experience.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have definitely improved upon my confidence and communication skills while being in the business due to all the different people that I have worked with.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

I think the program is structured really well as it allows for 2 consistent days a week of dedicated university studies. I do feel that the placements should be shorter to allow for equal time around all of the departments before making our decision for final placement.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive as much support as necessary from my employer, we have frequent meetings and if I have any issues then I can bring them up at the meetings
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

All of my modules for university are online and pre-recorded this is good as I can learn at my own pace however, it is difficult to get in contact with some lecturers as they also have in person classes to attend.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Going to university has allowed me to see the connections to some of the tasks I have done in work however most of the university work is heavily theory based and I have struggled to make connections to what I am doing in work, which has made report writing challenging.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are plenty extra-curricular activities to get involved with, I have represented the company at multiple STEM events and I am also in training to be a wellbeing champion.

Would you recommend Leonardo to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Because all the elements to be a good engineer at the end of the course is present and we dont have any financial stresses during or after the apprenticeship as we are paid and out student finances are taking care of for us.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Leonardo?
To talk about yourself and what you enjoy as an individual. Everyone has the entry requirements to get into the course but not everyone gets involved in other hobbies or interests.
