Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My role involves the planning, creation and distribution of internal communications including a newsletter, case studies and videos. I also look after the marketing for a number of our construction sites, where I organise small events, write press releases and find interesting news stories for internal communications. Rebranding existing documents is also a big part of my role as we recentley rebranded.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I loved the programme - I learnt a lot about marketing theory that I could apply in my role. I was supported all the way by my team who couldn't do enough for me.
A lot of it was online due to COVID-19 which was the only downfall as I prefer being taught in person.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Yes. I have learnt how to use programmes such as InDesign, Premier Pro and Photoshop which I use to produce all of my marketing material.
My writing skills have massively improved, and I learnt how to structure a press release and use the correct tone of voice for the occasion.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
It was well organised. I had a workshop once a month which was conducted on Teams due to the pandemic. I also had meetings with my mentor whenever I wanted to discuss any issues, and meetings with a member of my social value team at EQUANS to check on my progress.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I received lots of support from my employer. I was able to use my time at work to complete assignments and revision and I was fully supported by my team if I struggled with any of my assignments. I would discuss my progress with them each week. They helped me all the way through the programme.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I received lots of support. As well as having workshops once a month, I also had a mentor from Professional Academy who I could contact whenever and arrange a meeting. My mentor [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the Higherin Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] was amazing throughout, and always had the time to go through my assignment with me to make sure it was ok.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
It pushed me to explore different areas of the business that I wouldn't normally interact with. For example, when completing assignments I sometimes had to look at annual turnover etc which meant I had to sit with other teams and learn from them. This allowed me to see the bigger picture of the business.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There are plenty of social activities throughout the year and multiple professional networking events. I attend many conferences throughout the year where I network with other staff members from across the region. I am part of a few networks in the business who hold multiple calls a month about specific topics and it is good to get to know people through this.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Equans UK & Ireland to a friend?
Yes
Why?
EQUANS is a brilliant company to work for. They really care about upskilling their people, and during my time here I have completed multiple training courses, my apprenticeship and am currently in the middle of Digital Marketing qualification. I feel really looked after and valued by my team and the wider business.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Equans UK & Ireland?
Prove your passion for the job you are applying for. Even if you feel as if you are under-skilled - you can't train people to be passionate and I think that's a big aspect of what makes you successful in a job! If you are someone who is wanting to learn as much as possible, EQUANS is the right company for you.
