Operations Intern Review

My role was to support the senior managers and operations director with projects and tasks, conduct independent research and data collection, build relationships with clients, sub-contractors, and suppliers, and to present work during SMT and client meetings.
Day to day:
Keeping up with emails and contacting engineers, clients, and industry experts when needed.
Reporting updates to my line manager on progress on whichever project or task I was working on.
Many of my larger projects involved the daily management and altering of data spreadsheets, asset registers, online SharePoint files and documents.
Helping the PPM team with additional applications for payment, helping to ensure our contract bill's for all of the work we have conducted.

Yes, I was given a number of independent tasks whereby I was responsible for meeting the deadline, ensuring completion to high work standard, and work presented to manager or client appropriately.
One of my tasks also involved managing 4 engineers. This involved keeping strong communication with them at all times, and it was my responsibility to ensure they conducted the necessary work on time.

I was able to greatly develop many key transferable skills such as time management, organisation, teamwork, communication, presentations.
New skills developed: business communication, corporate relationship building, excel skills, public speaking, chairing meetings.

I received weekly meetings with my line manager, to discuss progress and any issues I was facing.
I also had support from the early careers manager in the company who was always there for me if I needed, and organised top training during the placement with Orangebox training solutions.

Great company culture, especially when visiting different offices around the UK.
A welcoming atmosphere, friendly, supportive.

Overall, I really enjoyed the placement and am glad I had the opportunity to experience it.
