Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
As a sales support, i provide quotes and pricing for account managers to send to the customer. This also involves sourcing products and contacting the right distributors. How this works is account managers send over requests for what products/software they would like quoting and i then source and quote it.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I really enjoy my role as it is in between a sales role and admin. This means i still am involved in the sales process however don't have the pressure of targets and call time. It's also a great opportunity to progress into a more hands on role in sales.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
One main skill I've had to develop is my organisational skills. This is because i have a time limit that requests have to be completed by and i have to manage my time to ensure i set aside enough time to get them all done in that time window.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
I would say the programme is well structured as the sessions we have with remit are every certain amount of time and the work is based on a monthly schedule as well as the modules being every quarter. In my particular role, i can't have a day set aside for my remit work so i have to fill the gaps when my role quietens down.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I receive a lot of support from my team and my line manager in particular. As i sit with the other sales support employees, it means if i have an issue with anything, i can just ask my or someone close if she's not in and they always help me out.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
We have calls with our training provider as a team to go through the course and to go through the lessons. As well as this, we have one to ones with her to go through any gaps in our knowledge and to check up on our progress in terms of the monthly work.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
2/5
In terms of my actual role, the qualification doesn't apply to much to my role as it is a business admin course and I'm more involved in the sales side of the company. Saying this, some parts do sort of apply and it is always useful to have a wider business knowledge.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
At softcat there are plenty of events and opportunities. I personally want to get involved in some the golf events that are happening throughout summer. In the office, there are often things going on such as end of quarter drinks as well as team nights out for each department to go on.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Softcat to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I believe softcat is a great place to work due to the oppurtunities outside of the work you can get involved in. This has been confirmed due to them winning various awards for there culture and i knew of people who worked here before i applied and i only heard good things.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Softcat?
I'd make sure when you apply to make sure you have a professional CV and a cover letter always helps to have. In the interviews you should be polite and enthusiastic to show you want the role. Finally prep for what you think they'll ask so the questions aren't a shock.
