Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
Best described as 'programme director, I am responsible for the change and transformation activity across Wealth management and the COOs office in HSBCs UK retail bank. Essentially this involves overseeing all of the programme and project work in these two busienss areas, including everything from resourcing, financials, end-to-end delivery and busienss benefits.,
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
2/5
Mixed, many of the MBA modules are enjoyable, as are the appreniship related studies on leadership. As per my previous answer, the many , many hours needed to log and evidence on job learning and how learning is related to role is not particularly rewarding.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
1/5
From the MBA, yes, less so from the apprentiship. The area that has been useful is leadership, with a number of lectures and modeules focused on different types of leader. However the logistics of the apprentiship are time consuming (recording CPD, extensive evidencing) and have not added to my development.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
2/5
Mixed, the timetable of activity was published at the start, the modules are known and transparent. However the work associated with teh apprentiship is less clear and has been a surprise for all of the students I have spoken to. I feel that the tutors at Aston still do not fully appreciate that everyone on the Exec MBA Im studying is a mature student studying along side full time employment.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
HSBC is committed to 20% away from job.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
There is a good level of support, in terms of access to tutors, course director, library services etc
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
The modules are all relavant, to varying degrees, and the use of academic research, studies and theory is of use
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Yes, a lot, various groups and guilds covering sports, religion, hobbies, and communities such as Pride
