Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I am responsible for the day to day HR aspect of my business, working closely with customers, mainly focused on recruitment, resourcing and learning and development
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I was very lucky with a great Learning and Development coach and a lovely tutor, both who assisted me throughout the programme.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have been able to understand more about Employment Law and it’s complexities, which has been of great help. I have also gained my CIPD membership from undertaking the apprenticeship

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
Very well, I knew straight away when deadlines were, how I was able to manage conducting the programme as well as manage my day to day role
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My employer was really supportive, my manager helped me wherever he could and ensured that I did take the time to conduct all aspects of the apprenticeship
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I was lucky, my LDC was a great help when I got confused and my tutor was always available to discuss any aspects of the modules.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
It has helped me broaden my own knowledge and enabled me to feel more credible in what I am doing. I constantly think back to aspects of the modules, or refer to the textbooks for advice.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
Yes, however due to the pandemic this has been more challenging and profession led items are not as well advertised as previously had been

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Defence Equipment & Support to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I have worked here for over 15 years and I have found the support for any Learning and development to be fantastic, it is very rarely that it gets denied.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Defence Equipment & Support?
Be yourself and don’t have a perspective that it’s all about the Military
