Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I am a service delivery engineer. responsible for repairing and providing phone lines and broadband to customers in my area. A lot of my work is customer facing and in a way could be seen as customer service. But most of the time ill be repairing the copper network or someties even upgrading or adding to it.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I enjoy my programme greatly as it makes me think logically about the issues I face and how to creatively resolve them. This may include figuring out where the network goes underground or understanding where I would most likely find issues in specific parts of the network including overhead and underground.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I've learnt plenty of new skills. Mostly safety related ones like safe operation of gas detection units and deploying tetra so that my ladder is secured and will not fall. I've also learned how to fault the copper network and accurately identify and locate a multitude of faults in the network as well as knowing how to fix them.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
It's fairly well structured and I know what to do most of the time if I get a stuck or if I need a new job to continue working, but sometimes it could feel a bit better when distributing jobs as I may have to travel a bit between jobs.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Personally I feel like I have plenty of support, I've been approached by my team leader asking where I would like to take my career as well as what pathways I would like to pursue and that really inspires me to want to work really hard for my employer.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I receive plenty of support, I feel like I can always ask a question at any time or say if I don't understand something, and I feel like i come away from every training session having learned something new which enriches my career and helps me become a more effective engineer.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
Overall this qualification (although not yet complete) has helped me to grasp a better understanding of the telecommunications network and has also helped me to better identify the company's technology out in the field, it has also helped show me useful resources I can always rely on if I ever feel stuck.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
not really in terms of extra curricular activities. but we do have weekly team meetings to discuss our progression as a team and monthly ones where we all get together in person to talk about how we are all doing and is also a good way to get to know some new faces.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BT Group to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I would recommend this company cause I feel valued as an employee and feel urged to progress and excel at what I do and I feel like I have a more realistic chance of achieving progression as well as being able to learn about the different pathways the company has to offer.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BT Group?
Don't worry so much about your grades or current qualifications, just try to show you interest in what the job has to offer and how you would best be suited for either through extra-curricular activities, hobbies or even just showing transferrable skills you've had from previous work experience.
