Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Being a shift manager and running day-to-day operations of a hospitality environment. Dealing with customers and staff; ensuring fast accurate service and training where necessary. Responsible for cash handling and submitting bank deposits at the end of each day part. Complying with all relevant food safety to ensure best products are always served.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoy the ease of the programme; in the sense that although there is a lot of work to be competed, all the trainers are always there to support and encourage you. They really help to develop your skills and knowledge, not by just giving you the answer but by pushing you to find it yourself.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Thought the course and my job role I am always learning new things and developing my existing and new skills. Specifically developing my knowledge of theories of management styles and why all aspects are important. My knowledge and skills of being a manager have developed further every day and each time I speak to my coach.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
Generally the structure of the programme is very high quality and follows a easy to follow basis of what needs to be done. All the trainers are very flexible and always do their best to fit things around my other commitments. They make adjustments when needed and are very understanding.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
2/5
In the current climate it can be very difficult to fit in the required time to be spent on the course and my employee can’t always give me the time or support due to their heavy commitments. That said they do try their best to provide me the time I need.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
Can’t fault the training provider. I have had several different trainers over the length of my course so far. Each of them have always been so supportive and encouraging towards me. They offer great ideas and push me to always think of things in more detail without relying on them to just give me the answers.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
It has helped in the sense of providing more knowledge to the basics of my role and the reasons why we do certain things. It has also encouraged me consider my own management style and look for improvements to develop and become better. I think there could be some more applicable knowledge that I could use everyday.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
2/5
There are things such as this but these are not for me as I like to keep a strong work life balance and don’t like to inter mix both. I can see the benefit for some people in some situations but I would rather keep them separate to have the time away from always thinking about work.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend McDonald's to a friend?
Yes
Why?
McDonalds is no longer just a fast food chain that is out to monopolise the market. They make many adaptations to suit so many different people for a variety of reasons. I have learnt so many skills that are interchangeable to other jobs and roles. Plus out of all the places I have worked they really encourage you to be yourself.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to McDonald's?
Just be yourself.
