Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Daily tasks include reading fraud threat material, information and news stories to stay up to date with latest scam trends. Work with my team to make educational resources for our customers to teach them about fraud and scams so that they wont fall victim to them. Working with my manager at the fraud customer journey and how we can improve the experience for customers.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really enjoy my programme. I applied for this apprenticeship role as I wanted to be able to learn on the job and I am given every opportunity to do so. My team are great and the see me as an equal. I am able to work at home or in the office. I also feel like if there is anything that I don't want to do, I can say to my manager and its not a problem.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt many new skills in this role. The first being time management as I am in charge of managing my workload. Mostly my new and developing skills are related to project management as this is what my apprenticeship qualification is in. I have learnt all about governance and how that can affect companies when running projects.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

From the NatWest side of things, the programme is very well organised, we had a 3 day induction online which told us everything we needed to know. The BPP side of things have not been as well organised or structured. We are sent emails about lectures that aren't ours. There was a lot of confusion about what pre-lecture reading we were to do and what is expected of us. However, now that we have our coaches from BPP I feel like it has been running more smoothly.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive huge amounts of support from my manager. We have regular meetings to discuss my workload. If I need more time to complete my apprenticeship work, I am given it with no issues. I can speak to my manager about anything to do with work and am offered guidance and support. My manager also sends me links to events or talks that I might be interested in.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I am given a lot of support from my coach at BPP. They have made it clear that we can email them with questions about the content of the course, or for assistance with our portfolio. We are also able to send them a draft of our submissions before the due date to receive feedback which is super beneficial.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

My qualification benefits me as project management is very important at NatWest. I have already learned so much within the first few months of my qualification that I am now using in my day to day role. For example, we are currently learning about stakeholder management in the course, at the same time, my manager and I are working with new stakeholders and so I am able to use to skills I am learning.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are lots of networking events that you can be involved in at NatWest. I have attended many of these sessions already. NatWest recently invited the apprentices who were based in Scotland to the Edinburgh office for a social/networking event which was really good fun and a great way to meet people.

Would you recommend NatWest Group to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I have been given so many opportunities since I started only 6 months ago. I work some great people who have been able to build their careers from the ground up within NatWest and so I feel I will be able to do that too. I am given loads of support and guidance without being micromanaged.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NatWest Group?
The induction days are a great way to meet people who are on the same course as you. Through the induction days, I was able to meet (over zoom) all the other project management apprentices and we set up our own group chat. We then use this to help each other with our coursework and it has been a lifesaver!
