Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I work as an Assurance Analyst within the wholesale energy sector, it is an interesting and varied role.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
I do enjoy my programme however the provider cold be better at taking on feedback of how improvements could be made. I much preferred when the programme was completely remote.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Since starting my Graduate Apprenticeship, I have developed my knowledge, especially around managerial finance and economics.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
Most of the time our programme is well structured, but it does vary from module to module and lecturer to lecturer. Some are much more organised and give a clear structure and others not so much so it does depend.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
Good support from my employer to do the degree and time off when required out with our allocated time for exams etc.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
Our training provider do provide support, but often as a university they treat us as 17/18 year olds, rather than graduate apprenticeships and often are not understanding when it comes to extensions as it does not fit their extension criteria.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
The qualification has definitely helped me to perform better within my role, my writing skills have improved massively and I find it a lot easier to look at data and manipulate it.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
2/5
No there aren't really since covid happened

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend SSE to a friend?
Yes
Why?
The company is great to work for, good progression and opportunities to develop. Its also super convenient if you live in or outside Perth as it is on the edge of the city with good travel routes.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to SSE?
Do your research on the company and their culture. Safety culture and teamwork is quite big. It does vary depending on which area you work in on how the culture is though,
