My job role is a capital project assistant, on a day-to-day basis my job role consists of the following:-
Assisting the project manager(s) on the various schemes we work on as a team.
Attending site, and carrying out managerial site visits (MSV's) on the various contractors.
Communicating and informing stakeholders about the scheme.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

The programme is flexible which is good, which allows you to completed the course at your own pace. For instance, you can complete the course in just over a year or if you would rather take your time with the course you can take up to two (2) years deepening on your time available.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have definitely developed pre-existing skills which I had through the completing the "Associate Project Management Level Four (4)" course. However, i would not say that i have learnt a great deal of new skills but this is due to the degree I have already previously completed in "Business Management".
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme which I am on is well structured with one (1) workshop a month with the tutor which lasts for one full morning. However, the organisation at the start of the course was very poor with Westherts only providing one working day to complete forms, which around a busy work schedule was not always enough time.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive a great deal of support from my line manager, who ensures I am provided with the relevant time I require to complete the course. However, I do feel i would of not received this support if it was not for my line manager been who they are as a person.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I am currently half way through the programme so can not provide feedback on this element fully. However, to date i would say that the support from my training provider has been good as and when i have asked for such support, but i have had to ask rather than just been provided with it.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I personally feel that my Associate Project Management Course Level Four (4) qualification is helping me to perform better in my role by ensuring I am well rounded within all my knowledge and skills within project management and can work more independently on schemes that the highways team are provided as a contract.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Due to Covid-19 non of the above have been possible over the last couple of years. However, i do believe they are starting to establish some social activities and sports teams now that government guidelines have allowed. There has however, always been the opportunity to volunteer within the community for two days out of the year.
Recommendations & Advice
Would you recommend Equans UK & Ireland to a friend?
No
Why?
The contract which i work on comes to an end in a couple of years, and therefore there is no job security which puts me off recommending to a friend. I have also learnt from previous experience that working with friends does not always work out well and for the best.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Equans UK & Ireland?
Ensure that the job that you are applying for has a clear path for progression within your career choice, to ensure you do not get stuck within the same job role.
Secondly, I would ensure you research both the company and the contract which you are applying for as although you work for Equans you need to know information about the partner organisation you work for.
