Helping the team working on live deals/pitching by creating materials, running data analysis, building pitchbooks.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
At the start it was mainly helping analysts and associates with building materials for clients but as you progressed, more tasks come directly to you where you need to build something yourself from scratch which was a big responsibility. Overall, a lot of responsibility is given

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
Yes, it was a very steep learning curve but I have learned a lot in the process.
Excel and PowerPoint skills you rapidly pickup - what shortcuts there are, how to create a better formatted end product, how to use certain functions for applications.
Financial analysis skills - how to calculate key ratios and apply them.
Market knowledge about the industry, company or a certain product.
Overall. lots of skills learned.

Support and Guidance
How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
A lot both from HR and the team. I was able to constantly ask the team questions which helped a lot with small issues especially because it was in person. The team was very friendly and even if they were busy, more than happy to help out

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Amazing, enjoyed working with the team a lot both in the office and outside. Within the team, a lot of responsibility was given but a lot of help was provided as well which was great for learning and taking part. It was also very inclusive. Outside of work, the team and managers organised a lot of events which was great as it allowed you to see your team outside of the workplace and the culture

What advice would you give to others applying to Deutsche Bank
Apply early. Learn about the firm when applying - all the initiatives they have in place, what are they currently doing, how does it stand out from its competitors. Have everything prepared for interviews - technical and motivational/competency/behavioural. Just be yourself as the company if very friendly and values a strong culture
