Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I work in the kitchen on both grill side and bop side making each different menu items whilst keeping the kitchen clean and tidy. I also work on front counter serving customers on till or on the wall thru system aswell as preparing food and drinks and handing them out
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoyed doing this apprenticeship programme when I first began working at McDonald's a few years ago as it was very helpful to be able to learn and earn money along side each other I enjoyed the learning and being able to understand and progress within the business well

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learned alot more of about social skills and how to socialise more with a variety of different people aswell as a lot more knowledge and understanding of health and safety within a kitchen environment and more about the food safety especially when handling raw and frozen foods such as meat and shake mix

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The apprenticeship programme began of well organised and structured however after the first half of the apprentice programme I had a new trainer as my previous one had left and then it became a different as they taught in a different way to my precious trainer covid lockdowns also affected the organisation alot as things had to be keep being moved and changed
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I received alot if support from my employer as they helped me with things when I was struggling and also always made sure I had plenty of time to take whilst at work to work on any set work that needed completing for my apprenticeship programme my employer Alos made sure I had enough space and time to sit and complete the online session quietly
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I received a great deal of support from my training provider when I was completing my apprenticeship qualification training as I would regularly receive either emails or phone calls as well as text messages communications any changes or new and important information as well as makeing sure I knew that I could contact them at any time for help with any issues
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I think that my qualification has helped me to perform better in my role through the help and assistance of my training provider as I was able to learn and understand the importance and way things run and work quickly as well as being able to know people more quickly which has helped as I got to know the people I was working with quickly
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There is alot of extra curricular activities in which are available to participate in within my work we hold regular sporting activities such as foot ball and rounders games aswell as quiz nights which take place in different stores regularly there is also regularly nights out such as roller skating and bowling and we hold friendly competitions at work aswell

Why?
I would recommend to my friends and family as well as people to work at McDonald's and to take on the apprenticeship in which I completed due to the friendliness and kindness of the people in which you get to meet and work with through you time aswell as the great learning opportunities available to progress
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to McDonald's?
I would advise others who are starting a job or applying to McDonald's to be themselves and to be happy as whilst working here I have been able to be myself and be accepted alot more than you would have first imagined I would also recommend that you follow the apprenticeship path when you start as the qualification you receive can look great on your CV and help you develop further in you career quickly
