Please give an overview of what your work experience involved:

Range of events over a week, which were delivered very professionally. Events included learnig about HSBC and the different school leaver roles it has to offer. Got to know HSBC –values, history and exactly what they do – and gain an insight into actual jobs. There is an opportunity to work on a live project and share your ideas with managers.
To what extent did you enjoy your work experience?

I thoroughly enjoyed the HSBC work experience program. I Got to know about HSBC values, history and exactly what they do – and gain an insight into actual jobs. Furthermore, this gave me an insight of the business world, and how to make a smooth transition from sixth form to the accounting world.
How well organised was your work experience?

The event was very organised, even though it was held virtually via zoom. The host was very helpful, and was in the background in case you faced technical difficulties. The certificate was issued the week after the programme finished which was very helpful. Overall, the event was very well organised.
How much did your work experience help you in deciding on your future career path?

This work experience event helped to me confirm my plans to go into the finance area. HSBC gave everyone insights to the benefits of working and the qualification you will achieve. Furthermore, i enjoyed listening to the value, history and working culture at HSBC which was very interesting and fascinating.

This event was virtual, so no travel.

Skills Development

What training and skills development did you learn from your work experience?

I had an understanding of the work environment and what employers expect of their workers. I also got the opportunity to explore possible career options. As a result, I increased self-understanding, maturity, independence and self-confidence. This increased motivation to continue studying and finish my a level exams in the future.

How much did you learn about the company culture and what it would be like to work there?

I Got to know HSBC –values, history and exactly what they do – and gain an insight into actual jobs. I had the chance to talk to current employees who gave an interesting insight to life at HSBC. Overall, i learnt a lot about the vibrant working culture which was very interesting.
