4/5
I really enjoyed my week of HSBC work experience and I feel it has taught me valuable lessons that I can carry into my future.
How well organised was your work experience?

My work experience was really organised, they regularly emailed links to the calls, along with sheets for the days activities and a timetable at the beginning of the week. We also had regular and scheduled breaks.
How much did your work experience help you in deciding on your future career path?
3/5
My work experience opened my eyes to degree-level apprenticeships vs. University. The benefits and downsides to both were clearly presented and explained. We had first-hand accounts on working in different sectors from employees. We also received mentoring on interviews and CVs. Really helpful.
Were you paid or reimbursed for this experience?
1/5
There was no salary for this experience. No expenses as it was a virtual course.

We learnt how to write the ideal CV, Interview techniques, how to have a growth mindset, being aware of your personal branding, organising your finances, employability skills and much more.

Company Culture

4/5
We learnt about HSBC's origin, their ethos and interesting facts about the company. We had first-hand accounts from employees about their experience working HSBC.
Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees?
4/5
We had talks from employees informing us about their area of work and students studying degree level apprenticeships with plenty of opportunity for questions. Towards the end of the course, we received small group mentoring from a younger intern on mock interviews and advice for the future.

Recommendations and Advice

Would you recommend HSBC to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I learnt a lot of invaluable information, experience and advice that will help me in my future.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to HSBC?
Don't be overly worried about the phone interview and apply again the next year if you don't get in. Use a notebook to take lots of notes and jot down advice they give you.
