Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Work in the audit line of service. Working as part of a team to complete an engagement. Working from home, the office and client site. Attending meetings and independent working throughout the day. Organising calls and meeting with the client to resolve any issues. Helping the team with sharing the workload.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I thoroughly enjoy the flying start degree program as it enables me to complete a degree and also have on the job training and experiences and allows me to earn a salary whilst at uni. This work experience further aids the learning from uni and puts it into real world situations.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Improved my skills on excel and all digital programs. Learned formulas and excel tools to help with day to day field work. Put into practice accounting knowledge from uni and understand financial reporting further. Improved team working skills by working as part of a peer group and larger team as a whole.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The program is very well structured with a good balance of uni and work. There is lots of support in place from uni and at PwC with good peer groups, engagement teams and higher up. The flying start champions within each office help with all questions throughout the work experience.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
Lots of support is provided throughout the placement through the uni and at PwC. There is support in place with buddies and flying start champs as well as lots of help within the flying start peer group. We have support through the engagement teams and the higher up team members we work with.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
We receive support from uni whilst at placement. We also receive support from PwC whilst we are at uni when preparing for our placement to start through training and guidance from the program director. We receive support towards our exams from uni whilst on placement towards the end of our time at work.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
The training through uni is very useful when it comes to audit field work. We are expected to have a basic understanding of accounting and double entry when on placement and this grows across the placements and more training completed. The knowledge required to start the placements is all provided at uni.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
The PwC Cambridge office is a very social office. We regularly run sports events and office socials such as table tennis tournaments and bowling once a month. We also run other social events and meet outside of office hours to grow connections and create a great team atmosphere which helps with the work environment.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend PwC to a friend?
Yes
Why?
PwC is a great company to work for with a very social and enjoyable office. There is lots of support from peer groups and team members throughout my placement which is has been very appreciated. The colleagues at PwC make the office and team environment enjoyable and I am looking forward to my next placement.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to PwC?
I would suggest to anyone that they join the program as it offers a great balance of uni and paid work experience. I would suggest that everyone goes in with an open mind and put in the effort to learn the required knowledge. I would encourage everyone to ask lots of questions as this is always appreciated by senior team members.
