Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
Day-to-day I serve customers at the bank by withdrawing or depositing cash for them, making foreign payments, and booking them in for financial reviews with advisors- e.g., for mortgage applications or investments.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
I enjoy working while learning and I love getting the chance to take in as much knowledge as I can. I do find that my colleagues don’t have a full understanding of what an apprenticeship entails, and sometimes it can be hard to find time for my learning.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
I have learnt how to manage accounts for customers in terms of depositing, withdrawing and other account services. I know how to exchange currency and process business banking. I’m in the process of trying to learn banking knowledge in between my main work.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
My learning is very structured in terms of its modules, but when and where I do my work is more flexible and I can take on more challenges if I want to.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
My company is very keen on the apprenticeship and very supportive from the side of the learning department, but the department I work in is a little understaffed so it can be hard to get time for my studies. All in all I have designated time for it.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
My training provider is friendly and approachable. Sometimes I feel like the system is a little rigid and doesn’t have fluid communication with my workplace. Almost all of the studying I do is independent and I don’t usually study alongside my peers.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I haven’t learnt a lot of theory yet in terms of banking knowledge, but once I have I think that will make a big difference. It’s definitely necessary to have some supplementary financial information when you are serving customers at a bank for example.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
There are some employee led networks for causes like multiculturalism and sustainability, as long as you proactively seek them out you can get involved. There may not be a lot of events on just now because of covid.
