Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
As a TDA we are tasked with introducing technology into different business units. Day to day this involves creating different solutions to help streamline manual processes and encouraging others to seek out technology solutions that may have been ignored before. We also have the opportunity to use resources to further develop and learn new technology skills.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
I enjoy the work I do and the people I work with. At PwC it is clear we, the employees, are cared about with regular check ins. It sometimes feels like you are a very small fish in a very big pond but there is always someone to talk your concerns through and assure you that you are part of the PwC community

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Whilst on placement I have learnt new skills in and out of the tech space. I have been on several tech days where we learn about new softwares used within the firm and have been on course learning more about the finance side of the work we do in the firm.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The programme is very well organised with regular updates from the TDA team on what is going on. We also have a buddy and a career coach, along with other business contacts, so we have people we can go to to ask the 'silly' questions. There is also regular contact between the firm and the university so we are kept up to date with goings on from both sides.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
The firm has a great support structure. Once you join you are assigned a buddy and a career coach to help you settle in. You are also given other business contacts who help you get onto projects and help support in other areas. In my experience I was also given a buddy in my specific team to help with onboarding. So there is a lot of support within the firm.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
Support from the university is also great. There are many avenues of support which students can bot academic and non academic. This support has only been improved in my time during the covid pandemic and I can only see this improving further with the university learning a lot from the past few years.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
I have used a lot of my knowledge from university within my role at the firm. Not so much specific things but more the skills and methods used to learn that are taught within university so that you can quickly adapt in different environments. The degree definitely goes hand in hand with the role within the firm.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
I have been involved with social activities within work football and golf. I have also had the opportunity to travel to different offices for firm events followed by networking with colleagues from across the UK. There are also virtual event that I have been involved with as a way of meeting people throughout the pandemic.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend PwC to a friend?
Yes
Why?
PwC is a great firm to work for because there are plenty of opportunities to get involved with some really interesting work and meet some really great people. The support they have in place and the care for their employees is second to none and it is really reassuring knowing there is always someone to help no matter the problem.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to PwC?
When applying make sure to prepare for the interview and try to enjoy the application process as much as you can. And make sure to be yourself for the interview. PwC invest in its people, not just your qualifications. That is why PwC is such a great firm to work for!
