Overall Rating

3.4 /5

2/5 - Skills Development
3.6/5 - Structure and Support

Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
Within PwC I'm a consultant, that means I move team to team on a three month cycle helping them with whatever tech-related problems they might have. This can range from Power BI development to changing the format of powerpoints.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
2/5
The people are great and that makes the programme a lot more enjoyable. However the work isn't great, some people are lucky and get good teams while others are stuck with mindless and repetitive work.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
2/5
I've developed strong Power BI skills however these aren't the skills that I was hoping to gain from this placement.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
Poorly - being a newish programme it seems they are still making decisions into how it will work as we are on this. That being said, the overall structure of a 3 year university course and a year in industry is a good one, especially as it's free.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
All my managers and colleagues have been extremely welcoming and helpful. They're supportive and always want to help which is reassuring. However, the resourcing and central apprentice team is very poor. If I needed help they are some of the last I would look to.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
University of Leeds is good for what it is. However online learning did seriously inhibit much of lecturers ability to help their students leading to very difficult modules with limited support.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I have learnt a huge amount from the computer science degree and a lot of logical and critical thinking learnt can be immediately applied to your day to day job.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
PwC is a social company. There's plenty of after work socials with and without alcohol. That being said many of the socials are easier if you drink.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend PwC to a friend?
No
Why?
This is difficult question to answer. On one hand the degree is an excellent deal. However, if you are someone looking for actual technical work (development, etc.) this degree is unlikely to be for you
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to PwC?
Prepare for your interview and be ready for questions.
