Overview of the Experience

Please give an overview of what your work experience involved:
3/5
The work experience was organised by professionals in business and banking who gave expert insight into the industry. The online platform was useful in how accessible and broad-reaching it was compared to in-branch work experience; however there may have been consequences on the lack of in-person activity I needed to do.
To what extent did you enjoy your work experience?
3/5
I enjoyed it to a certain extent and for a few reasons. An example that comes to mind of the work experience being enjoyable is the broad range of lovely people I was able to interact with throughout my time. However, it is notable that it is easy to get distracted while being online.
How well organised was your work experience?
4/5
The work experience that I attended with HSBC, a global company, was very well executed and had great overall organisation. The PowerPoints that were being presented were of high quality and the support given was always very useful. The presenters who spoke throughout the experience were very insightful in their careers.
How much did your work experience help you in deciding on your future career path?

This experience of working online helped in deciding on my future career path before stepping into the broad, large world of work. The banking industry is notoriously hard to get in to, so the insight that HSBC provided throughout this work experience was insightful and gave me a competitive edge
Were you paid or reimbursed for this experience?
1/5
No, I was not paid or reimbursed at all. This may or may not be a minor or major issue for those with more precarious social and/or economic situations than mine. I am fortunate enough to hypnotist have to concern myself with the worry of the cost of the work experience

Skills Development

What training and skills development did you learn from your work experience?
3/5
The interview skills that they provided are undoubtedly beneficial in helping me gain insight into the world of work, which has reassured me immensely. However, it is arguable that due to this work experience being over Zoom and not in-person, certain interpersonal skills and awareness may be lacking in the future.

Company Culture

How much did you learn about the company culture and what it would be like to work there?
3/5
The entire work experience was limited to being online, there fore there is a limitation on the culture and atmosphere that we could be submerged in. This is a minor issue, however, as although being online restricted our socialbility in the event, the values that HSBC has shown clearly through
Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees?
3/5
This work experience with HSBC gave useful opportunities into networking and meeting employees. The one on one experiences with the current employees that we were provided near the end of the week was helpful in engaging us with the corporate environment and the world of world, alongside engaging us in activities.

Recommendations and Advice

Would you recommend HSBC to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I would definitely recommend this work experience with HSBC to a friend, especially one that may be feeling anxious about where to start when beginning to gain interest in the broad world of business and banking. Although it was restricted to online, it was helpful in providing lots of useful insight
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to HSBC?
The tips or advice that I would go be to others applying to HSBC work experience is that although it is restricted to online work, thus limiting the ability to full immerse yourself in the company culture and working environment , it is useful to learn more about digital working for the future.
