Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My day-to-day role, throughout the academic year is to study computer science as a normal university student. In the summers and in my 3rd year placement, I am put into a team as an intern. We are given options as to what team we'd like, after learning about them briefly throughout the year.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
Very much so!! The team supporting us is very helpful and I've made many amazing friends on the course too, who work and study as I do.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I've been given the opportunity to join several types of tech teams, broadening my options and of course, I do a degree during the year.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
Quite structured. However, maybe because of covid, our first placement was less organised, with us being put into any teams that might not even be tech related.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
A lot. We each have a career coach on placement, a tech buddy to reach out to, as well as our lecturers and the team who organises our placements. Everyone is happy to help you and the older years are a great source of information
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
My lecturers are amazing, with some going out of there way to make tech for girls, more accessible and less uneasy.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I get a degree at the end, which opens a lot of doors for after. However, the degree is usually not relevant on placement
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Very many. You can get involved with everything, as a normal uni student does. Many societies to join, as well as the computer science department, doing things every so often.
