Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My role is regional head chef. I am responsible for supporting and overseeing 13 kitchens across our region. This includes doing health and safety audits, regular stock checks and food quality visits. My role also allows me to train and develop teams and managers across the region. I also work within the brand doing menu training
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I thoroughly enjoyed my program. there were some challenges during Covid where there was a lot of movement of tutors and no one seemed to know what was happening. However I cannot praise my tutor [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the Higherin Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] enough, he was absolutely amazing and a fantastic support for me during my apprenticeship

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
The skills I have developed are
Communication within the team. Having more confidence to communicate more with higher management.
Change management is crucial in my role. We have a lot of managers training and starting in new businesses so training them to manage change within their team is also very important

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
As I said earlier, other than the issues during Covid I have had a very positive experience during my apprenticeship. The course itself had some fantastic elements and a really good structure. I found the amount of time with my tutor very helpful as-well as it gave plenty of opportunity to ask questions
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I received fantastic support from my employer, I was given plenty of time to complete work, aswell as full support with any aspects of the course that I needed help with. My employer was particularly supportive during the end point assessment where I was given plenty of time away from the business to complete my studies
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I cannot praise [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the Higherin Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] (my tutor) enough for the amount he supported me during my apprenticeship. When [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the Higherin Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] took me over I had three tutors in three months and was starting to feel very disengaged from the course. Immediately he took the time to get to know me and changed my perspective.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
The qualification I have completed does not help in my current role as I already had the job role and have not changed company. However if I was to decide to move to another career what I have achieved and learnt would be really helpful and would look very good on my cv.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
I get involved in extra work for the brand where I can. This includes menu briefing and training aswell as training for health and safety for the head chefs and general managers. Social activities include our meetings every 6 weeks where we meet and discuss ideas that can be implemented
