Financial Planning & Analysis Intern Review

My role consisted of monthly analysis of various operating expenses through management of postings when journals were posted to incorrect accounts and investigating reasons behind adversity to budget. There are also analysis reports created by department for costs as to track and assess spending. Various adhoc tasks are also thrown your way which can include headcount, budget and new report creation.

I was given a large amount of responsibility through assisting and even being responsible for my own departments to analyse during month end. part way through the internship i was moved to assist with bigger departments to get more exposure and became responsible for updating important monthly reports. I even created a few of my own vital reports from scratch that had to be updated monthly for an analysis pack for higher ups.

I have learnt many new skills regarding networking and what the office corporate environment is like. Learnt how to manage new systems and improved my excel skills greatly throughout the year.
The intern programme itself provided plenty of areas for general development and exposure to a variety of tasks that you wouldn't get inside your role. these lead to public speaking, research and presentation skills.

I received plenty of support from my manager and the intern panel were always there to provide any needed assistance. Different interns in different teams had a variety of experiences with their team, but overall everyone was incredibly supportive and happy to help with and queries.

The company culture is both professional and friendly at the same time there was always an open atmosphere at work that created a comfortable environment to both chat to your team and get work done.

I did very much enjoy my placement I got to experience what a company that cares for its employees is like which sets a great standard for the corporate world at such an early age, which will honestly prevent me from settling for less when some company cultures can be draining. I was given responsibility and support within my role but not overworked as well as a large variety in side projects through the internship programme. im honestly glad i got this internship over others.
