Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
My role requires daily tasks such as granting access requests to content, having a meeting with my team in the morning then can do a variety of work throughout the day. My day is based around meetings that I will attend, this could be project work or meetings to discuss taking on new work. My daily tasks can change as more work can come to the department, we act as custodians for various customers in the bank by taking their requirements and modelling them to provide an entity relationship view of business requirements. But, also do a number of things behind this.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I'm really enjoying my programme as I am able to work as part of a team which has been great in helping me progress throughout my journey so far. Not only this, but the whole culture of the company is outstanding. You are encouraged to go out and build a network, and from my experience everyone I have dealt with so far has been so kind and willing to help with anything.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Prior to joining I had no previous knowledge of my area and through the apprenticeship programme was able to attend various courses to develop my knowledge as well as skills. An example of this is my communication and critical thinking abilities, being able to develop my skills internally and externally allowed me to understand things in greater detail and with this my confidence grew which also had an impact on how i was communicating with my colleagues and customers.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
I would say that the structure has been good, the induction was a good way of breaking you into what is expected at the bank as well as making it a friendly environment to go out and talk to other apprentices who are also new. The training provider has also been good at keeping me up to date of what will happen throughout the year, this has been done through both e-mail and meeting with my apprenticeship assessor one a month to discuss my progress and my work.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
You are offered a lot of support, this can be support for a number of reasons. If there are any problems I can quite easily speak to my manager and he will most likely resolve the issue. If it is outwith his control then I have various support functions such as ask [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the Higherin Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] which is an online chat bot where you can then be directed to an advisor to assist with any questions. You're also heavily encouraged to ask for support when needed within NatWest, which also makes me feel more comfortable if I need any help.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
In my opinion you receive a goof amount of support when working towards your qualifications as I can quite easily set up calls with my assessor or drop him an e-mail if I have any questions. There is also plenty of materials which they provide to help you with any learning needs e.g., if you're attending a course before they have a website where you can access pre-learning materials. So, overall I would say the general attitude towards helping and support is the same as NatWest.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
To some extent the courses have helped with my knowledge and skills within my role, but it can be hard to cater for everyone who's attending and make it very role specific which I understand. A good example of this is the last course I attended was a Data Analytics course which was very helpful to me as I got to understand tools in greater depths and know why they are used. However, some courses may be a bit less specific for my role. But, I think overall it does help to a good extent and allows me to progress.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There are various opportunities to get involved in a number of things at work. There are various events held throughout the year which you can sign-up for, this could be activities to do with charity, or joining in on a group challenge. So, the social aspect is well covered as there are lots of different opportunities for everyone in the bank.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend NatWest Group to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I have been made to feel welcome ever since I started last year which was a big thing for me. Coming into a new business with no prior knowledge in my area was quite daunting, but my team and other colleagues have been exceptional in helping me to learn and grow within this past year. It is such a friendly place to work, where everyone is focused on doing good for the organisation and trying to deliver great results within a friendly environment.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NatWest Group?
Make sure to do your research prior to applying, you want to make sure that you know about the business and what you could offer as a future employee of the bank. I checked what the usual assessment procedure would be and what I could potentially be asked, along with understanding the history of the bank. It is a good idea to asses yourself against the capabilities the bank. It's also a good idea to ask any friends if they work in the bank what their experience is and understand from their interview process what they main things to aim for would be.
