Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role is to assist in managing a portfolio of customers with my designated relationship manager. Tasks include booking meetings, contacting customers to help solve any queries or issues, assisting with loan deals, performing fraud and security reviews, promoting new software/products to customers and much more.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I thoroughly enjoy my program currently. No 2 days are ever the same with countless potential customer queries and issues, new products and software coming onto the market, speaking to different colleagues and team members each day and learning loads of new information as well as skills.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt many new skills in my short time in role as well as improving existing skills such as customer service skills, organizational, literacy and numeracy, time management, large work load handling, interpersonal and team working/building skills.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The program itself is structured well but with the organization of the program my whole cohort seemed to have issues with the 'welcome' email and pack we was meant to receive a week before starting but didn't receive until a day before starting.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive a lot of support from my line manager, manager and the team that I work with. Everyone is very helpful and have made me feel welcome and comfortable to ask as many questions as I need to.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Having only just started the program side of the apprenticeship, it is still very early days but so far it seems as though the provider will be alongside me for the whole journey. I have a designated tutor and we have a 6 weekly check in to see how things are going.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I feel that my qualification fits in perfectly with my role. During my learning i will learn all about banks, their customers, regulations and products as well as building on skills such as customer relations which is an everyday part of my role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Sadly shortly after I joined the bank we had to go back to working from home due to omicron. Now that we are passed that I'm starting to experience more extra curricular activities such as some upcoming networking events and my team and I have a social event at least once a month.

The bank so far have been very supportive and have made me feel welcome, appreciated and cared for.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NatWest Group?
Do your research into not just the role you are applying for but also the bank itself and the skills required. Base your interview answers around this in order to stand out and show you have done all the research necessary. Don't be worried if you have no experience, I have come from a different sector completely and I am fitting in just fine!
