Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My day to day role involves working with other members of my department as part of a deal team. I spend time reviewing financials by looking at the companies audited accounts, I also have opportunities to take part in paper writing and financial modelling as well as communicating with other areas of the bank.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
So far I am really enjoying the programme, I am constantly learning something new and getting opportunities to learn from more senior members of the business. Opportunities to network in and outside of the business have also made the programme even more enjoyable and presented lots of additional opportunities to learn.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learnt lots of new skills in terms of financial analysis, this has allowed me to build upon my maths skills as well as excel skills. I have also been able to build on my research skills and grow in confidence when taking on presentation opportunities and building a network.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
My programme is well structured with one webinar per week, I have also been able to allocate time within my working week to keep on top of my apprentice work. The programme could have benefited at the start from a more specific induction process with specific training for the job role.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My employer has been very supportive, putting on extra apprentice specific sessions, calls with more senior staff and projects with graduates and associates. Senior team members have also been very supportive in my development and offering learning opportunities and assistance where ever possible to encourage me with my development as much as possible.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
At the beginning it was slightly unclear how everything with the training provider would work however, my personal coach and the instructors on the webinar have been very helpful. They respond quickly to emails and are always happy to help with any questions and offer support where possible or point you in the right direction.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
My qualification gives me a broader perspective on the bank in general and how it operates, as well as context of legislation and regulation. It also prompts me to reflect on what I am doing and look for development opportunities by seeking feedback from others. It ensures that I am doing more than what is just expected of my role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are plenty of networking events to get involved in both internally and externally mixing with other professionals working within the sector. They range from sporting activities to more formal activities/drinks. These have been useful in building my network and knowledge so far and have helped with my confidence.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend NatWest Group to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It is a positive place to work, with values that support communities and it's employees. There are lots of opportunities to learn and get involved with other areas of the business and this is always encouraged to help with development. So far I have felt really supported with my career development.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NatWest Group?
They are a purpose lead bank so are looking for colleagues who share this view and are driven towards change both in the banking industry and society as a whole. It is important that you are knowledgeable about the banks purpose and how you fit within this to show why you are applying.
