Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
Delivering business change programmes within Skanska. Improving internal processes to maximise efficiency and improve productivity.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
I enjoyed the programme however it would have been better had the delegates been able to meet face to face however this was not possible due to covid. 18 months of learning without seeing either the tutor or peers face to face is a long time.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learnt many new data skills including Power BI, Python, SQL.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
The course was well organised however could have been more aligned to the IT infrastructure available to me at work.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I received a lot of support from my employer. I found that the course required more than the outlined 20% off the job time to complete the course and my employer enabled me to do this to maximise the value of the course.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
When stuck or required additional support, my tutor was always on hand to help.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I am now able to apply new data skill to my role. This directly supports the projects that I work on.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
1/5
This was sadly lacking due to covid. It would have been great if this opportunity existed.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Skanska to a friend?
Yes
Why?
My employer has always supported my to learn and develop in my role.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Skanska?
To succeed you need to be prepared to be on a journey of continual learning. The value of what you know or think you know when starting the job will diminish over time. It is only by continually learning and improving your skills that you will be able to succeed in the long term.
