Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I look at fault rate within a specific region / patch and look to proactively plan work to fix high faulting cables. Using fault rate history I can plan the work to give to engineers to find and fix faults to keep customers phones and broadband services working without any interruption.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
So far it's been a enjoyable experience. From when I started , I felt minimal pressure when it came to training. There was an understanding that everyone learns at different speeds and that there would be time to go through things if anyone was unsure. The culture within the team is great with everyone getting along well.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Compared to when I started within the company, I have learnt more new skills when it comes to analysis. I have learnt about spreadsheet manipulation and how to use current systems within the company. I have also been able to work on existing skills in regards to communication and presentation.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
I think the team is structured well and there is someone who is specialised within the team to be able to talk to with any specific questions. I have always had support when it comes to learning from peers as well as higher positions. If needed there is meetings put in place to talk more.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I haven't had any issues so far however, I am confident that there wouldn't be any issues if I needed to talk to anyone. My current line manager is always available if needed and I have spoken to the HR rep on an introductory basis. There is support wherever needed.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I have been given time out of my business as usual each month to support with my apprentice learning. There is always support and I know that I would be able to talk to my line manager if I was having difficulties and she would sort the issue or lead me in the right direction.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
2/5
I think that the apprentice qualification lacks relevance to what I am doing. It's difficult as the job role I am in is very niche and there would not be a lot of people on the course to provide a specific detailed course. There are some things I have learned which have helped.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
2/5
There are some events upcoming but communications have not been very clear about it. I believe that the sports activities have been put on hold due to Covid so there is nothing clear at the moment of when it will be open again. Hopefully now lockdown is over there will be more opportunities.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BT Group to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I think that the BT Group is a good place to work for. There seem to be endless job roles and opportunities to be able to develop and grow within the company. There is people to help you decide what you want to specify in and will give you the tools to get there.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BT Group?
Just to be confident in your abilities. The interview process that I had was very easy and free flowing. From the very start the organisers had made it clear that everyone was there for a reason and there was a specific job in mind for all of the candidates and for people to just be themselves.
