Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
As an intern I would ask other team members for any work which they needed help on. I was responsible for the work I helped them with as well as any other tasks I had. Outside of the team I worked with other interns, asking questions when stuck.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
At times the work can be satisfying and challenging, other times it can be too difficult or far too easy. The importance of a good team is something valued in company culture, people are friendly and supportive. I was expecting more from first placement, however I still enjoyed it.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I am now one step closer towards becoming a chartered accountant under my degree. I have developed my personal skills including teamwork and communication. I have learnt new professional skills relating to software such as Excel Spreadsheet and Aura.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
Induction and training were provided, and it was made clear what was happening and when. Support was available at various levels and so queries were guaranteed to be answered. Studying is completed before placement and exams follow after, I think this is a balanced structure.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
Managers are always busy, however when they have time they are quick to take action. My career coach and other supporting members have been available when needed. The employer seems to be very supportive and focused on people.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
Textbooks and other related material were paid for, as was our accommodation. Both of these come at a great cost but provide students amazing opportunities.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
My studies provide a technical insight which helps me with the context of my work day-to-day. The theory I've been studying has come up into the tasks I've been doing and as such help me to understand the real world use.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
2/5
There are social events such as parties and drinks. I know there are sports clubs and other events hosted by the company. When not working I will go upstairs and play pool in the loft.

Would you recommend PwC to a friend?
Yes
Why?
For someone interested in accounting, I believe PwC has all the resources and experience to help that person pursue their career goals.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to PwC?
Be prepared for assessments but they are not worth overthinking. Make sure you are always happy to ask questions, as long as you can apply the answers in future.
