Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Daily I look after a variety of labour sheets as well as delivery tickets, the week varies with work from week to week.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

The program is enjoyable as it gives a good balance between work and socialising. I enjoy meeting the other apprentices up in Leeds and enjoy working with my team at work

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I've become better at understanding office politics as well as becoming more competent with Excel and some other computer programs.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The training and studying is enjoyable and at work I understand well who my line manager is and who my mentors are.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

We receive monthly support from our mentors which is useful and a living away from home allowance, travel allowance etc which is all very helpful.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

The monthly meetings are useful and the initial explanation of how the apprenticeship scheme as useful so that I can put evidence in myself without issues.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Day-day my mentor is constantly seeking to give me new work and support me. The things I've learnt have helped me mature and I understand from gaining experience from other what other roles are available in construction.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

At work we arrange our own events such as rock-climbing and pub visits for food and football with the young guys on the project. 5 a side football is also available at Leeds as well as at work. BAM and EKFB both put on a variety events too.

Why?
BAMs scheme is a beneficial way to becoming qualified and experienced in construction. The scheme is useful in giving a 50% learning 50% work based experience which is something I enjoy.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAM?
Be yourself and always think outside the box - this will be important throughout the application process to help you stand out.
