Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I work in the serious injury teams and my role is to get compensation for catastrophically injured clients. The role involves a lot of document production such as drafting witness statements and court forms as well as communicating and negotiating.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I really enjoy the programme and the work I do. Every single case is different and no two days are the same and I like that, sometimes urgent matters crop up and I have to learn to deal with this.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
My communication skills and my confidence have definitely improved since the start of my apprenticeship. I feel a lot more confident when doing my job role but at the same time I enjoy learning new skills such as dealing with difficult clients and improving my drafting style.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
My programme is now very well organised, it has been disorganised in the past but now I could not fault it. I am always kept up to speed about what is coming next in the programme and what to expect.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive a lot of support from my employer. They, especially my line manager, are very supportive of my apprenticeship and always offer guidance in m day to day job as well as guidance as part of my course.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I receive a lot of support from tutors and my legal assessor and always feel I have a good support network that I am able to turn to should I need it.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
I think all of the exam based work is interesting and helpful but I find the portfolio elements more helpful for me when it comes to performing well in my job role. It is definitely helpful to understand the pivotal points of the law which underpin the cases I work on but, in my opinion, that is not the most important factor in helping me perform well in my role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
I often try and attend as many social events as I can, especially those for junior lawyers. I also offer support and guidance to new apprentices based on my own experiences. I try as much as I get to get involved in business development to improve my knowledge and get my name out there.
