Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I assist the audit team with evidence gathering activities. On a day to day basis I usually receive coaching from Associates and Managers in the morning, and then put this in to practice throughout the day. I also create and send samples to clients, and take part in client calls to deepen my understanding of their business.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I enjoy my program to a huge extent. Every day I am working on something new and I enjoy receiving coaching from my colleagues. There is a great atmosphere at PwC and everyone is willing to take time to help develop others. I would highly recommend this program to all with an interest in audit.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learnt so many new skills whilst on placement. The main skill I have learnt is communication, and my confidence has grown significantly. I now feel confident presenting information to teams, which I definitely did not at the beginning! I have also developed my auditing and accounting skills through extensive on-the-job training.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
The program is very well structured over the four years. In my opinion, our time is split well between university and work. The only thing I would change about the programme is the timing of placement as it does not leave enough time to revise for exams at the beginning of May.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I receive a huge amount of support from my employer. All PwC employees are familiar with the Flying Start scheme and are very keen to teach and support you day-to-day. Support is very easy to access and we have a generous benefits package. We also have career coaches whom we have monthly meetings with which is very helpful.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I receive lots of support from my training provider when I am working towards my qualifications. Even though I am currently on placement and not at university, the lecturers are sending things we can start looking at for revision. This is very helpful and they are always there for support.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
My qualification helps me perform better in my role because the first year of the degree is spent in university. This gave me a very good understanding of audit and accounting and the base knowledge to start placement. Although we dont learn about any audit systems while at university, PwC understand that and give us extra training on them before we come on to placement.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are extensive extra-curricular activities to get involved in at PwC. We have lots of socials, team-building days, and team meals. These all help strengthen the bond between teams and improve my overall working experience. The most recent social event I went to was team drinks in my business unit last week.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend PwC to a friend?
Yes
Why?
PwC is an excellent company focused on the development of its staff. They offer such a wide range of programmes to suit everyone. Despite employing thousands of people in London alone, you still feel like an individual and the Managers, Directors, and Partners always make you feel appreciated. I would definitely recommend.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to PwC?
My tips for anyone applying to PwC would be to be yourself in every stage of the application. In terms of their apprenticeships, PwC aren't looking for someone with extensive experience or the top grades, they want to see a great personality with the willingness to develop in all areas.
